Overlay Design Portfolio

For my own overlay, I wanted something that felt a little sci-fi, maybe a little 80s, a little kitschy. I wanted it to feel a little like a sci-fi HUD.

The overlay is modular, so depending on what I’m doing (art, games, chatting), the colours can change, the position can change and the design style can change.

I also created BRB and End Screens, using free stock images and video from Pixabay and Google Fonts.

The BRB screen is an MP4 which animates and moves the whole time I’m away from my stream, just gentle and subtle like you’re watching the planet from afar, and there’s spots to add in my sub goal, my Stream Boss and chat if I want to.

I also made an “end screen” which I display at the end of my stream, before I turn off the actual live content (this way, the stream doesn’t cut off before I’m done talking or before I can send people on a raid), and this matches the offline screen that displays when the stream is actually off.

When I’m gaming there’s no bar across the top, allowing the HUD of whatever game I’m playing to show, when I’m writing there’s a background and the writing application appears on top, and when I’m doing art there’s a bar at the top and bottom.

Just chatting allows for a full-screen webcam and space to have Stream Bosses, sub goals and more!

Wanda’s overlay is based on the ocean and it’s my favourite overlay I’ve ever made (and I’ve made quite a few outside of what you see on this page). Much like my own, Wanda’s overlay is entirely modular, which means she can adjust it in whatever way she likes, sometimes on the fly!

Her tickers along the right hand side are entirely modular too — she can switch the images associated with each label out for other things if she so wishes, including swapping them to her emotes as she gets them. She can change whether it says “latest follower” or “latest subscriber” and change what tip alerts she shows.

Wanda’s overlay features boxes to put applications in when she arts, a circular webcam she can swap back to a rectangle when she has her full-face camera on, and a little coral reef where her notifications appear (even if she did hide them behind her sub goal that one time).

I created Wanda’s overlay with the ocean and being under the sea in mind and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. I used free stock from Pixabay and free vectors (with credit) from Freepik to create the overlay, which means she’s free to use it all for commercial purposes and on her stream as long as she credits Freepik (and myself) somewhere in her panels.

I paired the design of her overlay against a simple but aesthetically pleasing Starting Soon screen, on which the ocean flows like the tide while you wait for her to arrive.

At the end of her stream, she shows a “and we’re done!” screen that matches her Offline screen

(NOTE: As of 2020, Wanda no longer uses these designs as she changed her brand style.)

Panel Design Portfolio

I created buttons for my own Twitch panels in an aesthetically pleasing, matching style, with different colors for each button.

I matched the hexagons against the background of my overlay and the colors against the kitschy style I was going for, then used simple icons to represent each item.

When I reached affiliate and designed a sub icon, I created two buttons for sub perks and tip alerts and used the sub icon on the one.

Wanda already had a consistent, artsy style for her ocean theme and so I leaned into that for her buttons. I used vectors from Freepik for the individual designs, and created a simple but aesthetically pleasing background to be used for each one, then matched the design against the buttons for an overall style.

(NOTE: As of 2020, Wanda no longer uses these designs as she changed her brand style.)

Wanda changed her branding in 2020 and needed new panels, so she commissioned me to make her new ones, matching her current neon/synthwave/cyberpunk/city stream theme.

I’ve designed Sub Badges and Emotes for my own Twitch channel from my own design.

These are based around a combination of a space theme (UFOs, spaceships, etc) and the content of my channel (including a polar bear hat).

I adapted a draft of an emote WanderingSoulTV designed for her channel into discreet, individual sub badges, and a hype emoji to match. These are based around the sea and ocean theme of Wanda’s channel.

PRICE VARIES ($55+)

Stream overlay for your stream, by default this includes:
